Discover the Legacy of
a Self-Taught Black Artist
Walter grew up in the home of his grandparents where the rearing and lifestyle rested in the period between the end of slavery and the move to the Big Cities by southerners. With the love for this innocent and simplistic lifestyle, having no formal art training, Walter Williams is able to capture the nostalgic, naive and simplistic innocence of that time, and splash its character and color on canvas with seasoned qualities of a trained artist.

Dear Art Collector:
If you are a collector of Black Art, this is a must for your collection. If you are now 40 years old or older, our generation will be the last to talk about the fun times of growing up in the south before the last Big Migration to the big cities.
No more talk about life on a farm or:
❖ Sunday Afternoon Outings
❖ Friday Night Fish Fries
❖ Coon Hunting
❖ Swimming In A Creek
❖ Hog Killing Time
❖ Making Syrup
❖ Grinding Hominy for Grits Grinding Corn for Mill
❖ The Smoke House
❖ The Out-House
We had everything we needed to survive.
We had God, land, plenty to eat and plenty of children. I believe it was the only time we felt we were really free, and had to carve out an existence and a space for ourselves.
